My internship at Treefrog Marketing was only a semester long, but the knowledge, skills, and memories I gained in my time here will forever have an impact on my life and career. I could probably write a novel about all of the amazing benefits of interning at Treefrog—but to keep it brief, I managed to narrow it down to a list of my greatest takeaways that illustrate what I gained from working at Treefrog.
Secrets to Success

The first assignment I had edited at Treefrog was a month’s worth of social media posts for an eye care company—and I must say, I was pretty proud of my work. I had done extensive research on the client, drafted catchy, yet informative posts, and included messages that I thought were consistent with the company’s brand.
So, you could imagine my disappointment when it came back from review attached to an email that included a long list of edits I needed to make.
If I had to choose one “greatest takeaway” from working at Treefrog, it’s that feedback is your friend. After I got that initial assignment back, I naturally concluded that I was failing at my job and had no future in the marketing industry. However, I eventually realized that while my posts were decent to begin with, they had the potential to be a lot stronger with the edits my supervisors had given me. I gradually came to the realization that the feedback I was receiving was making me a stronger marketer, and I learned to not take constructive criticism so personally. I now welcome feedback because I see it as an opportunity to improve and learn!
An Idea of What Makes the Agency World Go Round

I’m someone who likes a lot of variety in their daily life, so working in an agency setting is something I’ve always been interested in. The diversity of clients and fast-paced environment was something I was really drawn to when looking for internships, so getting hands-on experience at a full-service marketing agency had always been a goal of mine.
So what’s the verdict? Is agency life all it’s cracked up to be?
Well, I for one certainly think so! Working at an agency requires constant communication with your coworkers, a lot of hard work, and a knack for extreme multitasking. It’s an extremely fun and rewarding experience because it challenges you to step out of your comfort zone and round out your skills.
Doing work on behalf of a wide range of clients is also no simple task (just ask me about the day I was asked to write a blog on foundation repair), but it makes you a better writer and a more marketable job prospect. Having these skills has made my school assignments seem much easier by comparison, and I’m much more proficient at producing a lot of content in a short amount of time.
An Intense Macaron Addiction

Of course, what’s the point of any good internship if it doesn’t ignite an intense addiction to some kind of sugary goodness?
Just kidding! Kind of.
Two great things about Treefrog are:
- All of your coworkers are incredibly nice and are usually down for spontaneous food runs.
- Treefrog’s office is located in Downtown Lafayette, so it’s only a five and a half minute walk (trust me, I’ve timed it) from the yummiest bakery around.
This is a dangerous combination if you’re trying to avoid sugar, but for me, it was a great opportunity to spend some time with coworkers outside of the office while stocking up on my favorite goodies. My days as a Treefrog intern may be over, but my weekly macaron runs will remain a staple in my life.
Confidence
The practical skills and knowledge I gained while working at Treefrog are invaluable, and I can’t wait to nurture the skills I’ve acquired and use them in future endeavors. That being said, the confidence I have gained by interning at Treefrog is what has probably made the greatest impact on me.
To this day, the only thing I remember about my interview for Treefrog was how nervous I was. When I walked through Treefrog’s doors for a formal interview about five months ago, I lacked a lot of confidence in my skills, and most of that stemmed from having yet to gain any relevant hands-on internships in my industry.
Despite my nervousness during the interview process, I was offered a position as a Treefrog Content Intern, and my mindset has been changed ever since.
At Treefrog, I got to create content for many different clients, and knowing that my work would actually be published on an organization’s website and social media accounts really boosted my confidence. I now welcome challenging assignments and get excited when I have the chance to branch out of my comfort zone. I embrace the opportunity to learn new things instead of majorly stressing over them because I doubt my abilities. Having this refreshed mindset has been a huge benefit in all aspects of my life, and I can’t imagine having it any other way.
I could not have asked for a better internship experience than my time at Treefrog. I will miss starting off every week by driving to Treefrog’s office and cranking out content for five hours, but I can’t wait to use what I’ve learned at Treefrog in all of my future pursuits. Treefrog took a chance on me, and I couldn’t be more thankful that they did.
